Just received a call and spoke for about an hour trying to figure out how to keep from going to jail as they ( used the name Bob Benjamin ) told me I was being charged with tax fraud / evasion . Said they left notices on my door and since I did to respond to these the police would be at my door within the hour to hold me for 72 hours. As I explained and asked how I could keep from going to jail , I was told I could go to the bank take out a loan to the amount requested and send it directly to the Treasurer of CRA through an E.F.T. but I was not to let the bank know why I was asking for the money as the bank would freeze my account .I was to take my cell phone and then the Director would walk me thru the steps of the EFT. When I offered to pay CRA directly they said I would have to remain in custody while the receipt was verified within two business days. They use FEAR as their weapon . I am a single mom with a young child . They would not let me off the phone as they kept telling me if I hung up they would automatically send my file to the authorities who would be at my door within 35 minutes to haul me away. They then told me if I chose to fight , I would be sued by the government and have to pay no less than 1 million dollars when all was said and done. As I was speaking to them I went on the CRA fraud internet sight and hear a recording which sounded a lot like my guy I was speaking with at that time . I asked him to listen to the recording and did it sound familiar? He said he could not understand it so I told him to send the cops and I would wait for them . He hung up after stating I was the one who choose not to go thru litigation and take care of my outstanding back taxes then he hung up. Man I was scared , knowing there must have been a mistake but thinking I would have to go to jail and leave my son before I could clear it up somehow. So be warned , do not let them scare you like they did me .

same message in my answering machine. I think it is a scam. Ignore it.

sounds like a scam, got the same recording. CRA must have some info leak to scammers.

A scam - says a criminal investigation into tax fraud and that CRA will issue an arrest warrant and freeze bank accounts and proeprty.
